Achievements 1 DTU Comes Third in the 2021 Danang Scientific Research Student Contest

On December 11, fourteen finalists were selected for the 2021 Danang Scientific Research Student contest during the Danang Innovation and Startup opening ceremony. Phan Pham Huu, Nguyen Thanh Minh, Nguyen Dang Khanh, Hoang Nhat An, Da Van Tri, a team of K23 DTU Medical and Nursing students, were awarded third prize with their project entitled: “The risks of occupational exposure onmedical students”.

The municipal contest was launched in January by the Danang Youth Union and the municipal Department of Science and Technology, with 150 entrants from 16 universities and junior colleges in Danang,who are studying natural science, engineering and technology, pharmaceutical and medical science or agricultural science.

 

The team stated that no other research had been conducted since the pandemic outbreak to assess the effects of in-hospital exposure to various diseases on Vietnamese medical students, the same ones that full-time frontline health workers are also exposed to.

The objective of the study was to examine their exposure during their internships, at 18 hospitals and health centers in Hue, Danang and Quang Nam, and propose appropriate solutions to reduce occupational risk and danger for all.

Phan Pham Huu said: “This is the first research project that we have ever conducted, and we have been able to exchange experiences with students from other schools. All the finalists can be proud of their creativity and practicality, and we were delighted to win third prize after a year’s hard work. Thanks also go to our mentor, Mr. Nguyen Dinh Tung, for his constant, enthusiastic support."
